Summer Vacation - Keep The Kids Busy!

The month is June and school will close for the summer vacation shortly. The kids are excited and looking forward to the break. You, on the other hand have started to wonder on how to keep the kids entertained during their vacation. The time they used to be in school is now going to be spent at home. You may feel that you need to do something during the day to keep them busy. Children should be kept busy, learning as well as having fun through a lot of activities. So there needs to be a right balance between learning, fun activities and just free time allowing then to play as they choose to. This factor is important when planning their summer activities. Depending on the age of the children, and how independent they are, you can choose the amount of free play time for them. Not only that the time might vary, but also the way the time is spent. For example for small children, their free play time will need to be monitored. But with older children, you may give them the free time to play by themselves without you having to monitor them. This will also give you a breather before going into the next activity. Be careful to make sure they do not have a chance to wriggle out of it. It may happen that sometimes you don't have choices, in which case you should just explain to them what you are going to do for the day. The right mix of planned (by you and the children) activities and free play interspersed will make the summer a lot of fun for you and the children.
