Satellite Radio

The technology for broadcasting digital radio via satellite has been developed several years ago. During the infancy days of satellite radio, companies like Dish Network have given digital audio channels as part of their package. But only recently has the satellite radio picked up. When travelling in a car or boat etc. one couldn't receive satellite radio. This was the main reason why the general public was not aware and was not interested in the satellite radio. The situation and technology is different today. Today, we can get digital audio satellite broadcasts by using a small, GPS-like antenna. Due to this satellite radio has gained popularity and vehicle owners feel that this is a good option for music while on the move. There are several advantages of satellite radio. Some of them are (1) You are not limited by geographical locations. (2) You don't have to switch radio stations when you leave a certain coverage area. (3) There are no noise disturbances, which are heard in the traditional AM and FM broadcasts. There are some problems as well with satellite radio. One main problem is that you need to be in the line of sight of the satellite to receive the transmission. There were problems when you had different objects like trees etc. intervening with the direct transmission. As a solution to this problem, they installed land based devices in order to eliminate the lack of direct satellite transmission. Another interesting difference between the traditional radio and satellite radio was that the satellite radio charged advertisers a subscription fee, as opposed to charging the advertisers for airing their commercials. This worked well for a lot of advertisers, since they get a 100% content broadcast without the intrusion of about 10-15 minutes of commercials.

Enjoy Music With Widows Media Player

I love music. I listen to various kinds of music. I listen on the radio, ipod and the computer. I spend a lot of time on the computer and hence choose to listen to music on the windows media player. It is absolutely wonderful. One can choose to either listen to the music or download the digital music using Windows media player. There are several web sites available online that will give you an option of media players to choose from to download. You may also want to check your operating system version to download the windows media player. For example,if you have windows xp, you could use a windows media player 11 for windows xp. I prefer using this for my music for two main reasons. The first reason is that it is free and the second is that the windows media player is there and ready to use on all computers. Once you download the windows media player, you will notice that it has a storage or library, where all your music can be stored. You will see that it also has a catalog, which shows you different music, movies, TV programs, radio, games etc. It also gives other information like Hollywood gossip, editor's picks, summer flicks, sports and Internet radio, all of which personally enjoy. The Internet radio has various kinds of music you could possibly think off and would like to listen to. This site is free but the downside is that you may have to listen to a short advertisement between songs. Even with having to listen to the advertisement, understand that the advertisement here is much shorter than if you were to listen to a radio station. The windows media player also has a burn option. What this is mean is that you can download all the music that you would like to listen to and store it in your library. Then insert a blank CD in your CD ROM drive of your computer and burn the songs you like the best on to your CD. Upon selecting the music files that you would like to burn, you will notice it says burn list on the left hand side. The right hand side you will see the contents of your CD drive. Go to the left hand side and click on 'all music'. This will then bring up all the songs or music that are in your library. Then click on only those songs or pieces of music that you would like to burn and this will then automatically put those into your burn list. As you are putting your music on to the burn list, it will alert you if the CD is full. You may see a message which says 'Not enough room'. This is when you need to stop putting songs in your list and just burn the CD. It will burn one song at a time and will let you know when each song is completed. When all the songs have been copied to the CD, the CD ROM on the computer will open automatically. Blank CDs are available in most retail stores. Here you can see how windows media player can be used for different things. Most people find this very easy to use. It is also very useful in finding any kind of music. Check out the windows player, listen and enjoy all the music you want to and the best part is that you can enjoy it for free.

Summer Vacation - Keep The Kids Busy!

The month is June and school will close for the summer vacation shortly. The kids are excited and looking forward to the break. You, on the other hand have started to wonder on how to keep the kids entertained during their vacation. The time they used to be in school is now going to be spent at home. You may feel that you need to do something during the day to keep them busy. Children should be kept busy, learning as well as having fun through a lot of activities. So there needs to be a right balance between learning, fun activities and just free time allowing then to play as they choose to. This factor is important when planning their summer activities. Depending on the age of the children, and how independent they are, you can choose the amount of free play time for them. Not only that the time might vary, but also the way the time is spent. For example for small children, their free play time will need to be monitored. But with older children, you may give them the free time to play by themselves without you having to monitor them. This will also give you a breather before going into the next activity. Be careful to make sure they do not have a chance to wriggle out of it. It may happen that sometimes you don't have choices, in which case you should just explain to them what you are going to do for the day. The right mix of planned (by you and the children) activities and free play interspersed will make the summer a lot of fun for you and the children.
